案例说明：该学生自六年级起开始学习《典范英语》，一年后，他的英语能力特别是写作能力得到极大提高。以下是他读完《典范英语》(3b)Sleeping Beauty 后创作的故事Sleeping Giant , 该文语言活泼流畅，充满想象力，处处闪现着孩童的创作智慧。

Sleeping Giant

There were two giants living on the clouds. One was a man, the other was a woman. Under the clouds, there was a poor house. A woman and her son Jack lived there. One day, Jack went out to play. Suddenly, a witch appeared in front of Jack along with smoke.

"Do you want to take a look around in the sky? If you do, you have to answer my question." said the witch. "Yes. What question?" asked Jack.

"Hum, hum, listen. Someone has a car. Terry often drives the car with Pat and Tom sitting in the back. So who is the owner of this car?" asked the witch.

"Ah… I know!" said Jack, "The owner is 'Someone'."

"Oh,you are clever!" The witch vanished. There was a seed in Jack's hands. He came back home and planted the seed. The land began to shake up. There was a big vine out of the soil. It was bigger and bigger, longer and longer.

Jack was amazed. He climbed up the vine, higher and higher. At last, he climbed into the clouds.

On the clouds, Jack saw a giantess. She was crying. "What happened?" asked Jack.

"My husband is in that house but I can't go inside. There are a lot of thorns." said the giantess.

"I can help you." Jack had a match. He burned the thorns to ashes. "Oh, you are clever." said the giantess.

Then they came to the house. "Be careful. There is a bad man. He can use magic. His name is Dark." said the giantess.

They walked and walked until they saw a big door. It could speak. "You have to answer my questions to get inside." said the door. "What mouse walks with two feet?"

"Mickey Mouse." said Jack. "What dog walks with two feet?" "Snoopy?"

"Yes. Lastly, what duck walks with two feet?"

"Ha, ha! Donald Duck!" said Jack.

"Hum, hum. Every duck walks with two feet. You can't go inside." said the door. "Oh, no!"

"What a bad door! Look at me!" said the giantess.

She hit the door and the door flew open. They came into the room.

In the room, the giant was sleeping in bed. "Oh dear!" said the giantess when she saw the giant. Suddenly Dark jumped out.

"Give me your magic key. If you don't, I will kill your husband." Dark came closer and wanted to catch the giantess. But the giantess threw the magic key to Jack. Jack got the magic key. When he touched it, it began to glow.　　

"Oh! What bad light!" said Dark. He was scared and vanished in the light. The light woke the giant up.

"Thanks a lot!" said the giant and the giantess, "The magic key is for you. It's yours now." Jack was very happy. "Thank you!"

"You're welcome. We are happy if you come again. Goodbye!"

"Goodbye!" said Jack, "What a great adventure!"
